Nature conservation in Kiel

Despite our team's negative away record, Biernot set out for Kiel. This away trip had the charm that the journey to Kiel's "Stork's Nest" took only slightly longer than to a home game.

From the beginning of the game, it was evident that HSV didn't want to harm the storks. Therefore, the atmosphere didn't really pick up. Apart from the usual background chants, not much was happening.

During halftime, cheerleaders seemed to want to delight us with their waving. Or maybe we just didn't understand the purpose of the action correctly. In contrast, Kiel's mascot provided much more amusement for us. The poor guy looked like the stork had both BSE and bird flu at the same time with his costume. The Kiel fans really have our sympathy for their mascot.

In the second half, our team managed to equalize to 2-2 after being 0-2 down. However, they dashed our hopes for a victory in the very next counterattack.

Once again, we couldn't see much of the game in our half. The flag wavers in the small away block completely obscured the view.

Jesus summed it up nicely: HSV away... You have to decide beforehand whether you want to watch or support. Watching the game is not possible in the away block.

Conclusion: We've done our part for nature conservation and haven't overfed the storks with goals or set fire to their nest.
